Sharon Harris (337) 463-3006 sharris2005@yahoo.com Born in Singer, LA to W.E. and Violet Hollingsworth, Sharon attended school at Singer High School and then received her art training at McNeese State University, Oklahoma State University, Northwestern State University and the Getty Institute of the Arts. She spent her working life as an art teacher in various school systems. While in Avoyelles, Sharon directed the art production for the Avoyelles Parish drama group. While in Rapides Parish, she served as adjunct professor of art education at LSU-A. The last ten years of her career were spent eaching art at the Beauregard Alternative School and helping adult students obtain their GEDs at the Adult Education Center. Even as she taught and reared her two sons, Sharon continued to paint. In Avoyelles Parish, most of her commissions were wildlife paintings. In Rapides Parish, she painted portraits of people and horses. After retiring in 2005 with her husband John, she joined the Beauregard Writers' Guild and the Beauregard Artists' Guild, meeting weekly to write and paint. Retirement is great, she says. This is the first time Sharon has had the time for the rigors of gallery membership and is enjoying meeting many new friends who share her interests. ![]() ![]() ![]()
