Lydia H. DeRouen
Lydia is a Cajun native Louisianian and has always loved art from an early age. She grew up
in Lake Charles and was influenced by her sister. She learned to draw on her own in her early
years. She attended Alfred M. Barbe High School and received a solid foundation from some
great art educators. Some of the techniques she acquired in school are still currently used
by her today. Through the years of college, marriage, career, and motherhood, art has become
a woven intricate part of her life.
She has entered competitions and won awards for her works. Many of her works have included murals,
personal artwork, and commissions. A great and local artist, Margo Roll, has recently become her
teacher and mentor.
Lydia feels it is rewarding if someone can enjoy, smile, and possibly be inspired from her pieces.
More than anything, she wishes for her works to be pleasing to God.
